Since I was eight years old I had a beautiful, playful and happy Golden Retriever named Candy. She was six years and 5 months old and her brown shinny and brightful eyes and her goldish/yellowish coat were beautiful. Several months ago she became ill. A tick with an infection bit her and her health became every day until February 23, 2007 she died. For me it was very sad to lose my best friend. I was very sad for a long period of time and knew I could not replace her, but still I wanted another dog. On June 23, my dad took me to a dog shelter in the mountains of Heredia. When we got there, I saw all kinds of dogs. Some were black, white, brown, and mixed colors, there were big about 45-50cm, others small (12-20cm) and some were medium size (25-40cm), some in really bad shaped and their hair coat was messy and dirty, but others were clean their coat was brushed and neat and they were really cute. Then, I saw a black puppy with brown eyes, I knew she was the one. I told my dad I wanted her.  We told the lady in charge of the dogs we wanted the black dog. She said we just had to fill in a form to adopt the pup. After that, my dad gave a donation to help feed the dogs. The women gave us the dog, and I was so happy with my new puppy. I decided to name her Sasha. When we got home she investigated the entire house and jumped on the furniture. Now a days we are trying to train her, but she still does some bad things in the house and has the garden full of holes. We all try to train her so when she grows up she will be a good dog. I feel really happy with Sasha, and my dad says I should feel proud of myself because I adopted a street dog. With the donation we gave the lady, they can feed other animals until someone adopts them.
